routes are not of the same length. the boys start

and finish the race at Rock A.
                       a. Which is the shortest route around the rocks
and back to the start rock A?
                             Route i: A → B → C → F → E → D → A

                             Route ii: A → D → C → B → E → F → A

                       b. The shortest route from rock A to rock F is
                             _________ m.
                       c. The length of the route from rock A to rock C via
                             rock B is _________ m.

                       d. What is the length of the shortest route from

The following relationships help us convert one unit of length into another.

                       1 metre = 100 centimetres or 1 m = 100 cm × 1000 × 100 × 10
                       1 kilometre = 1000 metres or 1 km = 1000 m km m cm mm

                Metres into Centimetres ÷ 1000 ÷ 100 ÷ 10

To convert metres into centimetres, multiply the number of metres by 100.

                examples: a. 4 m = (4 × 100) cm = 400 cm
                               b. 17 m = (17 × 100) cm = 1700 cm

                                                                                                             155
                                                                                     Measurement of Length
